A care has signed up to a new scheme dedicated to providing the highest standard of end of life care.

Millard House Care Home, in Church Street, Bocking, has signed up to the Gold Standards Framework.

This means certain members of staff will be trained to deliver a "gold standard of care" for those nearing the end of their lives.

Once trained, staff will be able to identify residents' needs and work with them and their family to give them as much dignity in death as possible.

The programme can help to reduce hospital admissions with more effective end of life care being given at residential homes.

Soon Millard House will be officially accredited to provide the gold standard of care - the first care home in Braintree with the accolade.

On Friday Angela Kilmartin, vice chairman of Braintree Council, was invited to the home to officially launch the programme.

Speaking at the launch she said: "I am exceptionally pleased to be here and I would like to wish you in your training, which will be handed down to everybody in the building, all the very best.

"When you pass everything it is you have to pass I fully expect to come back here and give your certificates to you."
