A pub on the outskirts of Braintree town centre has been placed on the market for £335,000.

The Wagon and Horses, in South Street, is being marketed by owners Greene King to prospective buyers.

The brewery, which owns hundreds of pubs and restaurants, has stated the funds raised from the sale will be used to invest in other boozers across the area.

A spokesperson for Greene King said: “As a leading pub operator and brewer, we are committed to running high quality community pubs.

"To be able to continue to invest in our estate, from time to time we have to make difficult decisions and therefore after much consideration we decided to put The Waggon and Horses on the market.

"During this period the pub will remain open and trade as usual.”

The property consists of four main seating area across different levels, a large beer garden and an outbuilding for storage.

It is being marketed as a pub, with no mention of the potentially redevelopment of the site.
