Housing association staff members raised more than £500 for a mental health charity by braving the shave.
Greenfields Community Housing employee Hannah Woods had her head shaved and colleague Mitchell Simmons endured a leg waxing, in order to raise funds for Mid and North Essex Mind last Friday.
The duo's fundraising was supported by colleagues, who came to work in blue clothing for the day in honour of Mental Health Awareness Week.
Hannah, a customer services advisor, said: “When I announced that I was considering shaving my head to raise money for Mid and North East Essex Mind, my colleague, Mitch, told me that he would wax his legs if I did. I decided to hold him to that.
“Myself and others I know have personal experience with dealing with mental health problems, so it’s something I am passionate about supporting and I’m buzzing about my buzz-cut. It feels liberating.”
Mitchell, a member of the shared ownership team, is another big supporter of Mind.
He said: “Like Hannah, mental health is something that is close to mine and my family member’s hearts, and I’m proud to be doing this alongside my brave colleague!
“The waxing hurt as much as I thought I would, and I do feel proud of myself. We appreciate any donations, no matter what size.”
