A man in a blackava shouted abuse at a girl three times in a fortnight. 

The man is in his early 20s and wore a hoody, gloves, a balaclava and had binoculars and a backpack with him.

The girl was walking near Maltings Lane at the time of the incidents, between April 20 and May 5.

The victim’s mother reported the man had approached her daughter three times close and shouted abuse at her.

Investigating officer Pc Jack Mabbett said: "We are unclear about the motivation for this abuse, which has left the girl feeling harassed and very distressed.

"We don't believe there is a sexual motive and we are investigating whether the man may be suffering with mental health issues.

“We'd like to locate the man and we would urge anyone with information is asked to contact Braintree police station.
