Firefighters freed two people from their vehicles after a crash in Great Dunmow.
Two crews from Thaxted and Leaden Roding were called to Ongar Road, Great Dunmow, on Sunday at 9.39am.
On arrival, it was found two people were trapped in separate vehicles.
No other vehicles were involved.
Both casualties were released by 10.34am before being left in the care of the ambulance service.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust said: "Two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer were dispatched to the scene.
"They treated a woman who had minor injuries who was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further care.
"A second patient with shoulder and chest pain was taken to Broomfield Hospital for further treatment.
"Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
