The town's MP has met with the regional schools commissioner to discuss education in Witham.

Witham MP Priti Patel met with Sue Baldwin, commissioner for the East of England, to discuss pupil attainment and to raise educational standards in the town.

During the meeting Ms Patel identified and discussed recent cases where improvements were needed.

After the meeting Ms Patel said: “Since being elected in 2010, I have campaigned to put Witham’s pupils and parents first and improve education outcomes for every child.

"Parents will agree that a decent education is fundamental for every child, regardless of ability, to achieve their full potential and lead a life enriched with opportunity.

"We have seen great examples of teaching and leadership in schools across the constituency, and I am working with the commissioner to ensure that high standards are being maintained throughout and no child is left behind."

Ms Patel has called on parents to contact her with any issue to raise with the appropriate body.
