A WIND band from Great Dunmow is hosting a special concert to raise money for young cancer patients.
The Dunmow Wind Band, has chosen to support CLIC Sargent with their spring concert as a grandson of one of the members has been diagnosed with cancer.
As well as the band playing a selection of jazz, big band, and traditional tunes, they will be joined by singer songwriter Sim Pattison, who is from Needham Market.
The singer has personal experience with serious illness and his girlfriend was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of just 17.
Sim said: "Every song-writing piece of advice I had been given was to write about personal experiences and, even though it was a hard time, I wrote down all of my feelings and made it into a song.
"As hopeless as I felt watching a loved-one going through cancer, it felt like something I could do to help.
"From the day the doctor says cancer, CLIC Sargent care teams will provide exceptional care and support, tailored to each young cancer patient and family.
"They will listen and ask the right questions so that they can provide the right support."
The concert takes place at Great Notley Church from 7pm on March 11.
Tickets cost £10 for an adult and under 16s go free.
