A CAR company is getting its skates on turning a show room into an ice-rink.

Big Cars, in Witham, will be creating a Winter Wonderland which will be open to the public for free.

The show room in Crittall Road is holding the event on December 10 and 11.

The weekend will feature a host of attractions, including a Christmas market including food stalls from local producers.

There will also be a Santa's Grotto, face painters, games and barn owls flying about the showroom.

The showroom itself, which usually showcases about 15 cars, will undergo a unique transformation into an ice-rink.

Braintree and Witham Times:

Adam Stott, who owns the showroom, said: “We can’t wait to welcome people from across the county to our ‘Winter Wonderland’, which promises to get visitors into a festive mood.

"As you’d expect with Big Cars, it will be a massive event with loads going on and we’ll be welcoming other businesses, offering locally made produce, in our Christmas market.

"It will top off another record breaking year for Big Cars, so it’s our way of saying thank you to the community we serve.”

The car company experimented with the idea at a low-key event last Christmas, which ended up seeing about 4,000 visitors over the weekend.

This year they want to go bigger and better.

They said it was a significant investment this year, which has taken several months to organise, but it is an opportunity to give the public a good time.

The community event will also be an opportunity to raise money for various local charities.

The Winter Wonderland will be open from 9.30am until 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
