A PARK in Witham is becoming a hotspot for assaults.
A 10-year-old girl was assaulted in a park near Spa Road, just nine days after another assault at the same park.
Police are investigating the assault of the girl, who did not sustain any injuries.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "It happened at around 4.15pm on Thursday, October 27 near Spa Road.
"The victim was assaulted by a girl believed to be around 12 years of age."
Nine days previously, on October 18, police were called as a 14-year-old girl was assaulted.
She had been head-butted and punched to the face, causing her to fall to the floor.
She has suffered injuries to her head, face and knees.
A resident, whose partner witnessed the first assault, said: "It's scary, I have a young baby at home and there's all this fighting- it's a joke.
"My partner was threatened last week, it really is getting stupid.
"There needs to be police about, since the police cuts Witham has become hell- and where are the parents?
"It's happening out of school hours but the schools should also take some responsibility."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Essex Police on 101.
