AN ELECTRONIC music legend is offering youngsters the opportunity to meet and share a stage with him at a free half-term workshop.
Jim Davies, former guitarist for Braintree’s The Prodigy, will be attending a workshop at the Colchester Institute this half-term to share his experiences from a lifetime in the industry.
Famous for hits like Firestarter, Breathe and Omen, Jim performed with the band at some of the world’s most iconic venues, including Glastonbury Festival.
The guitarist is keen to help unearth young local talent and so is attending the four day Essex Music Education Hub, funded by the Arts Council, to give them a peek into what life in the music industry is like.
During the week, studios will be available for recording and producing music, along with a full-scale final gig to mimic an authentic live show.
Unsung heroes of the business, like backstage crew, will also be attending to offer advice to youngsters.
Ray Gooding, Essex County Council councillor responsible for education and lifelong learning, said: “Music can be a great platform for young people to show off their creative talents, with a wide range of genres offering something for everyone.
“This county has produced some fantastically talented artists in the past – and this event could be the beginning of a bright future for somebody.”
