Police continue to search for an 82-year-old man who has been missing for two weeks.

Gordon Wilson, who has vascular dementia, was last seen by neighbours near his home in Leaden Roding at about 11am on Sunday, October 25.

Police believe he took the 59 bus from Leadon Roding to Chelmsford Bus Station that day.

From here his bus pass is then confirmed as being used to board the number 352 First Bus service at 12.30pm.

The bus finished its route in Halstead and the driver believes a man fitting Mr Wilson’s description got off at the final stop at 1.30pm, and walked towards Butler Road.

Police also received information that a man fitting his description was seen in Halstead Road, Sible Hedingham between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday October 25 – the day he went missing from his home in Leaden Roding.

Specialist search teams have been checking the countryside along the bus route and public searches have taken place in Halstead.

Sible Hedingham and its surrounding areas are also being searched this weekend.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service search teams and specialist Essex Lowland Search and Rescue volunteers are assisting Essex Police.

Mr Wilson is believed to have left home with a small amount of cash and some of his medication.

He is known to enjoy long walks and had his bus pass with him. His ill health means he can become confused and have difficulty speaking.

Officers are also still looking at the possibility that he may be trying to reach Glasgow where he lived for more than 70 years and served as the headmaster at Shawlands Academy.

Mr Wilson is described as 5ft 11 in tall and of medium build with grey thinning hair. He wears glasses and was last seen wearing a sports jacket which is either checked or navy. He usually wears a short, tie and jumper.

Anyone who sees him is asked to call 101 urgently.
