A MAN has appeared in court accused of crashing head-on into a cyclist when drove on the wrong side of the road.
Colchester Magistrates' Court heard Sean Hill allegedly collided with Nicole Schroeder in Coldnailhurst Avenue, Braintree.
Hill, 27, of Dukes Road in the town, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, following the incident on March 25 this year.
He did not enter a plea when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court.
Prosecutor Kathy Wilson said the cyclist was hospitalised for two days and will need to wear a neck brace for a number of months.
She was left with a fractured left collar bone, fractured spine, facial injuries and a broken rib.
The woman has written a statement mentioning the psychological effect the collision has had.
Hill will appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday, October 27.
He was granted unconditional bail.
