AN MP is hoping to curry favour with food fans by asking them to vote for their favourite Indian restaurant.

Witham MP Priti Patel wants people in her constituency to make their nominations for the annual Tiffin Cup.

The competition is an annual event by the Tiffin Club to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country.

Restaurants are put forward by their local MPs to join a shortlist from every region.

The chefs are then invited to a cook-off event in the House of Commons to be judged by MPs and celebrities, with the proceeds going to charity.

Nominations need to be received by midday on July 14.

Ms Patel said: “Across the Witham constituency there are some outstanding South Asian restaurants making exceptional food.

“Many of my constituents will have a favourite restaurant or meal and I would encourage them to put these restaurants forward so that they can have the chance to showcase their menu at a national level.”

Voters can write to Ms Patel at the House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA, email withammp@parliament.uk with Tiffin Cup in the subject line or go to priti4witham.com/tiffincup2015.
