Prepare to hear some hit songs as you have never heard them before.

The D’Ukes play songs from a variety of artists - ranging from Amy Winehouse, Johnny Cash, Elbow, Beatles, Disney and Led Zeppelin on different types of ukulele along with a hint of percussion.

Their mantra is “if it’s a good song we will take it apart, rebuild it and uke it up”.

The six-piece band formed after a ukulele pub jam session in Chelmsford in 2009 and have players from across the county including Chelmsford, Romford, Hornchurch and Colchester.

They are now a highly sought after ukulele band specialising in electric, danceable music with great vocals, slick solos, tight harmonies, excellent song arrangements and a repertoire that keeps the audience wondering what’s coming next.

The band plays regularly at many types of venues across the south of England and abroad at theatres, festivals, pubs and special events, including busking at the London Olympics and the Tour De France.

They have even performed on BBC radio and have made TV appearances on Big Brother and Come Dine with Me.

The band will be starting their Red & Black Tour starting in March to coincide with their second CD, Red & Black, coming out at the same time.

They will be performing at Witham Public Hall on Saturday, with doors at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Tickets £8.50 available in advance from Witham Information Centre, in Town Hall, Newland Street.
