Highways officers are investigating whether improvements are needed on a stretch of road after a grandfather was killed riding his motorbike.
District councillor David Mann, who lives on the A131 at High Garrett, launched a fresh campaign to lower the speed limit on his street after dad-of-five Bryan Myers died and schoolgirl Helen Harvey was left fighting for her life following a horror crash.
Mr Mann brought up residents’ calls for a lower 30mph speed limit on the 40mph road and Braintree District Council’s local highways panel has agreed to spend £1,780 surveying two points of the road.
The survey will investigate the amount of pedestrians crossing the road and vehicles’ speed at the junction with Grove Field and further south towards Church Street.
