Braintree will be getting into the festive spirit with a Christmas light switch on extravaganza.

There will be stalls, music, Father Christmas and two contestants from BBC's The Voice to promise something for everyone on November 30.

Activities taking place throughout the day include: classic cars display, craft workshops, Santa’s grotto, Christmas word hunt, a Punch and Judy show, free face painting, cheerleading, torchlit tours at Braintree Museum, children's rides including bungee trampoline and a snow globe.

Great food and crafts will be on offer at stalls in the High Street, Bank Street and Town Hall.

Heart FM favourites Martin and Su will host entertainment in the market square and there will be performances from the likes of Funky Voices, Becker’s Green Primary School choir, the College at Braintree, Rascals Theatre School, Rock Choir, Lewis Henson, Aaliyah Wood with Lee Carter, Party Princess, Braintree Musical Society, James Ford, Yong Gi Do Martial Arts and Funky Voices.

The Voice contestant Luciee Closier will also perform.

The fun runs from 10am-4.30pm. Braintree High Street will be closed to traffic between 7am and 10pm and 10p day parking will be available in George Yard, Manor Street and Victoria Street car parks.
