Sitcom legend Dame Penelope Keith dropped by Silver End for a new documentary on village life.
The star of 1970s classics The Good Life and To The Manor Born met members of Silver End Heritage Society on Saturday.
Vice chairman Brian Gillion said the society was approached by the production company.
It is understood the series, being made for More4, is about villages have changed in East Anglia, Wales and the south west.
Silver End has featured in a number of programmes and was a backdrop for a scene in 1980s series, The Nanny, which featured another sitcom stalwart, Wendy Craig.
Francis Crittall, founder of the window company, turned Silver End into a garden village, building homes for his workers that had hot and cold running water, bathrooms and electricity.
