Scouts had a memorable trip to Poland.
In total 44 scouts and explorer scouts from the Silver End, Coggeshall, Maldon, Witham, Heybridge and Hatfield Peverel groups took part in the trip.
The children enjoyed a tour of the old Communist City of Nowa Hutta, just outside Krakow, learning about the medieval times of Krakow, visiting Wieliczka Salt Mine and also going to the infamous death camps of Auschwitz and Auschwitz Birkenau.
Dan Sutton, 38, scout leader of 1st Silver End and organiser of the trip, said: “We started running this trip in 2008 and now do it bi-annually for the older scouts.
“It is hard for them, which is why we only take the older scouts, but it is vital that they the history of the Holocaust is kept alive as it is an important part of history.
“It is very beneficial to the children that go, as many of them study the Holocaust in school and this means that they can see everything in real life.
“The last night was spent in a Polish Peasant Restaurant and everyone was very lively and enjoying themselves.”
