Fitness fanatics completed a 10km military style log run around Braintree to raise money for the Essex Air Ambulance.

Fifteen members of Bootcamp Revolution hauled the 65kg telegraph pole around the town last Sunday to raise almost £2,000.

The team, which were supported donation collectors, set off from Dunmow Road to run up Rayne Road, into Clare Road and through the High Street before heading back down Rayne Road.

Their final stretch saw them run part of the Flitch Way to complete the challenge.

Firefighter and personal trainer Craig Douglas, who organised the event, said: “Our charity event was more successful than I could have hoped for.

“Our aim was to get the 10km completed with the log in under two hours, we actually smashed it in one hour and 10 minutes.

“The target I aimed to raise was £1000, we actually raised near on £2000.”
