The tragic death of a much-loved and popular schoolgirl has sent shockwaves through the community.

Tributes have flooded in following the death of Georgia Hedges, 14, and thousands of people have joined Facebook groups set up in her memory.

Flowers, tributes, balloons and messages have been laid at Maltings Academy in memory of the Year 9 pupil.

Head of year Heena Maru said: “Georgia was a fun and bright young lady.

“She had a lot of friends who were very fond of her.

“She was a top set student who will be greatly missed by our students, her friends, her teachers and her family.”

The Maltings Academy schoolchildren were told of the death in a series of special assemblies with each year group on Thursday.
