Villagers have joined together in support of a site which serves as a “godsend” to their community.
The Blue Egg, based at Blue Gate Hall Farm, in Braintree Road, Great Bardfield, has applied to improve facilities and build a children’s play area.
It originally opened as a farm shop in 2003, but the site has also been home to the village’s post office since 2007.
Anne Barney, headteacher of Great Bardfield Primary School, said: “The post office at the Blue Egg has been a godsend for the school and we are very grateful that they took this vital community resource on when the post office closed in Bardfield High Street."
