A resident who planted a tree to mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee was delighted after receiving a thank you letter from Her Majesty.
Bernie Godfrey asked for a new oak to be planted in Cressing Road, Braintree, to replace the one planted to mark Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee in 1897, which was cut down in 1986.
Mr Godfrey, of Mersea Fleet Way, contacted the Braintree East Pride in Our Patch group and councillor Eric Lynch and the tree was planted in nearby Tapestry Walk.
