A great-grandmother who made bullet shells in a chocolate factory was among former munitions workers who took part in Sunday’s Armistice Day Parade for the first time.
Thousands of women including Maisie Jagger, 90, of Great Notley, were called upon during the Second World War to work in factories converted to support the war effort.
But they had never been represented at the Cenotaph ceremony in Whitehall, until a campaign was launched to seek formal recognition for their work.
Her son David secured his mum’s place at the parade after contacting the Royal British Legion.
