A SUPERB soprano is set to perform a live stream concert later this month.

Nancy May is billed as a classical crossover soprano and her gig will be coming live from Hedingham Castle on November 20 at 8pm.

Nancy will be performing some of her favourite songs, including operatic arias, musical theatre, popular classics and more, accompanied by a pianist, cellist and violinist.

She began singing when she was nine, and after school, aged 18, went on to train at the Royal Northern College of Music under the guidance of internationally renowned musical professionals.

Nancy continues to perform at high-profile functions, including at a seasonal launch party for fashion magazine Protagonist in London, dinners including parliamentary events and a party attended by a member of the royal family.

The singer also takes part in charity performances on a regular basis, including a Great Ormond Street Hospital charity auction and war memorial events.

Nancy was humbled to be asked to perform at the Grenfell memorial service in 2018 and the next two years, which was broadcast live on the BBC.

Last year Nancy recorded a CD and put on three of her own sell-out concerts with musicians.

This year Nancy was set to do a UK-wide tour, but due to Covid-19, all tour dates were cancelled.

Braintree and Witham Times:

  • Hedingham Castle was lit up in the colours of the rainbow during the first lockdown to celebrate our NHS heroes and will be the bckadrop to the concert

However, Nancy continues to sing and puts on her own online weekly concerts and is currently working on a new CD.

Nancy said: “If you can’t watch the concert live on the Friday then it’s not a problem as once you have purchased your ticket you can also watch the concert for up to 72 hours after it starts.

“All profit will go to the charity Help Musicians – an independent UK charity for professional musicians of all genres, from starting out through to retirement.

“They help at times of crisis, but also at times of opportunity, giving people the extra support they need.”

Tickets are £10 from nancy-may.co.uk/membership-join.
