(On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) (Amendment No.6)
Order 20**
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council proposes to make the above Order
under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1), 4(2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 49, 53 and Parts III and
IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the orders:
1. To prohibit all vehicles from using the following length of roads in the District of Braintree:
Road Description
Market Place From its junction with Manor Street/Fairfield Road in a north westerly
direction to its junction with Great Square.
Great Square From its junction with High Street/Bank Street in an easterly direction
to its junction with Market Place.
‘The Essex County Council (Market Place, Braintree) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2006’
is hereby revoked.
2. To prohibit motor vehicles from using the following lengths of roads in the District
of Braintree:
Road Description
Bank Street From its junction with Swan Side, in a southerly direction to its junction
with High Street/Great Square.
High Street From its junction with Bank Street/Great Square in a south westerly
direction to its junction with St Michael’s Lane.
There will be an exemption to facilitate motor vehicles to load or unload goods to or from
premises situated on the roads above between the hours of 6am to 10am.
‘The Essex County Council (Various Streets, Braintree) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2000’
is hereby revoked.
3. To introduce a contraflow bus lane for buses, taxis, motorcycles and pedal cycles and
a one way for all other traffic on the following lengths of roads in the District of Braintree:

4. To introduce a Bus Gate on the following length of Fairfield Road, in the District
of Braintree:

SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY ONLY: From its junction with Victoria
Street in a southerly direction for a distance of 6 metres.
Buses, taxis, motorcycles and pedal cycles will be permitted through the bus gate.
5. To introduce a one way restriction on the following lengths of roads in the District
of Braintree:

South westerly
Manor Street, Braintree: From its junction with Railway Street,
west to a point approximately 117.3 metres east of its junction
with Fairfield Road/Market Place.
Westerly
St Michael’s Lane, Braintree: From a point approximately 22
metres east of the junction with High Street to High Street.
North westerly
Swan Side, Braintree: From its junction with Drury Lane to its
junction with Bank Street.
Westerly
The Essex County Council (Various Streets, Braintree) (One-Way Traffic) Order 1997
is hereby revoked.
6. To introduce a Restricted Parking Zone, No Waiting or Loading at all times, except
in signed bays on the following lengths of roads in the District of Braintree:
Road Description
Swan Side BOTH SIDES: from a point approximately 22 metres east of the eastern
kerbline of Drury Lane, west to its junction with Bank Street.
Drury Lane BOTH SIDES: from its junction with Swan Side, south for its entire
length.
Bank Street BOTH SIDES: from its junction with Swan Side in a northerly direction
to its junction with B1256 Coggeshall Road.
7. To introduce Disabled Badge Holders Only 7am to 7pm restrictions on the following
lengths of roads in the District of Braintree:

WEST SIDE:
i. From a point approximately 5.8 metres south of its junction with
B1256 Coggeshall Road, south for approximately 29.5 metres.
ii. From a point approximately 37.98 metres south of its junction with
B1256 Coggeshall Road, south for approximately 28 metres.
EAST SIDE:
i. From a point approximately 14.5 metres south of its junction with
B1256 Coggeshall Road, south for approximately 19.8 metres.
ii. From a point approximately 36.6 metres south of its junction with
B1256 Coggeshall Road, south for approximately 7.7 metres.
iii. From a point approximately 47.1 metres south of its junction with
B1256 Coggeshall Road, south for approximately 14.9 metres.
All existing parking restrictions on the above length of roads specified in point 6 & 7
will be revoked.
This Order will be incorporated into The Essex County Council (Braintree District)
(Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil
Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 by substituting tile number TL755 230,
revision 0 to revision 1.
