Australia spin legend Shane Warne has distanced himself from reports that he is poised to join the backroom staff at Hampshire.
Media reports suggested that the 39-year-old is set to be offered a consultancy post alongside former England coach Duncan Fletcher, who is in talks with the county over a batting consultancy role, at the Rose Bowl next season.
"I've only read that story myself this morning," Warne told Sky Sports News. "I heard Duncan Fletcher will be a consultant there as well so I'll have to find out myself what's going on there."
He added: "The Hampshire boys over the last four or five years have played really well. They showed a lot of character halfway through this season to bounce back and things look pretty good down there.
"If Duncan Fletcher is motivated and has got something to offer then I'm sure he'll play a great role down there.
"As far as I am concerned, it's all about time. Next year the Ashes come here (to England).
"Hopefully I'll be over here in some capacity, maybe just to have a pint, but I'm looking forward to the series as much as anybody."
