"Today is the day" for diver Tom Daley as he tries to continue Britain's Olympic medal success.

The 18-year-old has thanked supporters "no matter what the outcome" in a tweet which also read: "After the toughest year of my life, today is the day!"

Daley and Pete Waterfield will be hoping to continue British medal-mania started on Sunday by Lizzie Armitstead and Rebecca Adlington as they compete in the synchronised 10m platform final.

As all eyes are on them, fans will be hoping to see an end to disappointing scenes of empty seats as Locog continued to battle the issue.

About 3,000 tickets from international sports federations were "put back in the pot" on Sunday night and sold to the public, a briefing at the Olympic Park was told.

Jackie Brock-Doyle, Locog director of communications, said officials will do the same thing on a day-by-day basis to make sure as many seats as possible are filled. She said tickets could be resold depending on security arrangements, and otherwise there are contingency plans involving giving seats to troops or students and teachers.

Prime Minister David Cameron said he thought Locog was "doing a good job of getting on top of that particular problem".

A Number 10 spokeswoman said he had been "very impressed" with the Games so far, adding: "There are bound to be challenges throughout the Games due to their scale and complexity but he was very impressed with the progress so far, very impressed with the opening ceremony."

Meanwhile Visa issues at Wembley Stadium, which left fans stuck in "ridiculous" queues for food and drink, have been resolved, said the company.

And Locog said that after a set of internal keys were lost by police checking security at the stadium, the locks have been changed.
