Pregnant Amanda Holden has been admitted to hospital.

The actress and Britain's Got Talent judge pulled out of the Blackpool auditions for the reality contest after she admitted herself to hospital on Monday.

A spokeswoman for the actress, who is more than eight months pregnant, could not confirm reports that she had gone into labour.

She said the TV star is in hospital "for observation".

Holden, 40, proudly showed off her baby bump when she attended auditions in Manchester last week.

She had been due to join fellow judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams but instead "took herself" to hospital, her spokeswoman added.

The mother-of-one, who has never confirmed her due date, had a stillborn son last year.

After she appeared at the Manchester auditions, Holden faced criticism for wearing high heels while heavily pregnant.

In response, the star Tweeted: "I walk less than 25metres a day in heels whilst up the duff!#justsaying!"
