Treble win for Pumas Under-12s

What a week for Maldon Town Pumas Under 12s!

On the previous Saturday, they won their first ever trophy, the League Cup, at Burnham Ramblers FC with a 2-0 triumph over Dunmow Rhodes Tigers.

Then the very next day they travelled to Wivenhoe Town FC where they beat Harwich & Parkeston in the semi-final of the Colchester Cup.

During the following week they played two league matches where they all but sealed the Blackwater and Dengie League Division 1 title, keeping a perfect record of played 12, won 12.

Then the icing on the cake came with a visit to Stanway Rovers FC where they lifted the Colchester Open Cup.

In a hard fought midday game in sweltering temperatures, Pumas had to dig deep.

A goal by Luke Wiffen just before half time calmed the supporters' nerves.

Pumas scored again shortly after the break with a beautifully worked goal from Charlie Beal who headed home a perfect Richard Hutchings short corner cross.

At 2-0 up things were looking comfortable until Tempest scored a sweet goal from a free-kick several yards outside the area.

Tempest scored again less than 30 seconds after the kick-off leaving the Pumas players and supporters stunned.

With a never-say-die attitude, Maldon lifted their game again forcing two magnificent saves from the Tempest goalie.

With ten minutes left, Richard Hutchings struck a looping shot over the Tempest goalkeeper to make it 3-2.

The final minutes saw Maldon repelling several Tempest attacks in good old-fashioned style but finally the whistle was blown and Maldon could begin their celebrations.

Sunday saw their final league match at home to Runwell where they won 6-0 and confirmed the league title and maintained their perfect run.
