Silver success for Ivan

Braintree shooter Ivan Marzocchi scooped silver at the Britannia Grand Prix held at the former national shooting centre in Dorchester.

With a silver medal and an equal fourth place overall, the Pro-coach Shooting School member is continuing his progress in the lead-up to the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Marzocchi is taking part in regional, national and international competitions this season, as he continues his quest to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.

With entries from 16 different countries, Marzocchi's start was not an easy one.

However he still managed a decent score, clocking 22, 21 and 23.

He then raised his game with two good rounds of 23 to secure him an entry to the shoot-off to win a place in the final.

The final took place under a mixture of sun and cloud between the top six shooters at the event.

After a miss on the first clay, Marzocchi managed to stay composed and finish with a wonderful 24.

The high quality of his final round reinforced the good training work put in by his coach Roger Hill.

Hill said: "I'm proud of what Ivan has achieved in this competition and we're on the right track."
