Late equaliser dents Iron 's play-off hopes
A dramatic late equaliser dented Braintree Town's hopes of making the Blue Square South play-offs.
Bodkin converted Read's pass to secure a 1-1 draw for Thurrock, after it had looked as though Micky Shinn had secured the Iron three precious points.
The draw leaves Braintree four points off the play-off places with a game in hand.
Iron manager Lee Patterson said: "It was a hugely disappointing outcome.
"Once we were in front, we should have gone on and won the game.
"The amazing thing for me is that we came off the pitch knowing a point gives us an outside chance of making the play-offs because of other results but we are all gutted."
Thurrock, with the wind in their favour, enjoyed more of the possession in the first half.
However, it was Braintree who struck the first blow six minutes before the break.
Midfielder Shinn volleyed over the Thurrock keeper and into the top corner to give the visitors the lead, after meeting skipper Bradley Quinton's free-kick.
Boosted by the goal Braintree dominated the second half and threatened to add to their lead.
Quinton hit the bar with a free-kick on the hour mark and at that stage, it looked as though Patterson's side were on their way to three important points.
But with only minutes left, Thurrock broke away and a neat interchange inside the area allowed Bodkin to level.
There was still time for Andy Porter to hit the woodwork with a dipping volley, as Braintree were left frustrated.
