Braintree Swimming Club have clinched promotion to Essex Swim League division three.

They have added the title to the Speedo League promotion they recently won.

It was a fitting way to crown the inaugural gala at the newly-opened Braintree Swimming Centre.

There were many fine performances from Braintree swimmers.

Nineteen personal bests (PBs) were achieved, with Harriet Bartram-Baird collecting a hat-trick of PBs.

Chloe Grose and Isabel Salthouse can also be very pleased with their efforts.

Braintree's first win came from the boys 11 and under relay team of Orin Mann, Ben Shambrook, David Fryatt and Tom Mclagan.

Four of the next five races saw individual wins from Shelley Wakeling, Max Palmer-Everson, Hannah Travell, Tom Mclagan and Matthew Horne.

The boys 13 and under relay team of Orin Mann, Lewis Birks, Tom Dagley and Luke Durban also collected a win.

More individual wins came in the shape of Lauren Costin and Adam Byford, in their open backstroke events.

The same quartet of 11-year-old boys tasted success in their medley relay.

Mclagan had another individual race win in his backstroke event.

Braintree girls relay team of Hannah Travell, Paige Dutton, Becky Booty and Grose took victory in their 13 and under medley relay.

A run of individual wins then came from Wakeling and Byford in the open freestyle, while Travell and Mann both had wins in their breaststroke swims.

The final win of the night came in the girls open relay, where Megan Costin, Wakeling, Amy Shambrook and Lauren Costin saw off their opponents.

RESULTS: Braintree 204, Hornchurch 196, Harwich 179.
