Nathan McDonald and Kenny Davis are likely to face one of the toughest games of their lives if the Braintree Town duo feature for England C in their International Challenge Trophy (ICT) game in Russia on Tuesday.

While most of the national teams involved in the ICT field younger players – England’s is made up of under-23 non-league players – Russia’s is likely to be far more experienced and that will provide its own challenges for the Braintree duo.

England boss Paul Fairclough said: “It will probably be our biggest test ever.

“It is in Dynamo Moscow’s fantastic stadium and it will be shown live on television over there.

“Russia are hosting the 2018 World Cup and they want to win it on home soil, so they have created this B team to assist them in that.

“They view this B team that we’ll be facing as their future World Cup side.

“We wanted Russia to be involved in this tournament to make it as strong as we could and we realised we had to make a few concessions to them.

“We have the England side as an under-23 one, but some of the Russian players will be from a more senior age group, but that’s fine with us.”
