WITHAM Town footballers of all ages along with their families, friends, coaches and managers turned out in their hundreds to attend the club’s Presentation Day.

They made the most of the opportunity to celebrate the end of their seasons and enjoy their award ceremonies.

In true footballing tradition, it was an event of two halves.

The afternoon session consisted of awards for teams ranging in age from the under-sevens to under-15s plus the development squad.

Despite the unpromising weather in the afternoon, a cake stall and other outside attractions proved very popular, before the awards for the veterans, reserves and first team took place in the evening session.

Correy Davidson won two first-team awards as Top Scorer and Players’ Player-of-the-season.

The Manager’s Player was Elliott Ronto and the Supporters’ Player was Bobby Mason, while the award for Young Player went to Kofi Gyebi.

Two players dominated the awards for the reserve team.

The Players’ Player and Supporters’ Player was Jack Stoneham, with Max Wilson picking up the awards as Top Scorer and Manager’s Player.

Witham Town vice-chairman Jim Purtill said: “It was a very enjoyable day and a demonstration of how good this club is at youth development and involvement in the local community.

"Over the course of a football season, managers give up a huge amount of their time to help the development of the next generation of footballers.

"It was great to see first team manger Adam Flint and players like John Watson and Correy Davidson spending time here in the afternoon to present awards to the youth teams.

"Off the pitch, we are very lucky to have dedicated volunteers who make events like this a big success.”
