JON Islip's win in the final singles game of the night saw Notley Sports take the singles points at Wethersfield Raiders in the Braintree Open Darts League.

Wins for Merle Morris and Jacqui Thurgood in the ladies gave the early advantage to Sports, before the Raiders came back with a 2-1 win in the pairs but Notley took the triples and secured match points early in the singles before Islip's late victory gave them those honours as well.

Wethersfield Club's Helen Jeggo and Kim Patmore got their team off to a good start with a win in the ladies in their match against the Angel and that lead was consolidated with a 2-1 win in the pairs followed by a win in the triples and an opening singles win for Ray Grocutt.

Dave Threadgold pulled a game back for the Angel, but with Wethersfield winning the next four games, they had the singles and match won.

Swiss Bell made the short trip to the Eagle to play the B team and with Deb Webb and Jan Pearce winning the ladies followed by a 2-1 win in the pairs the visitors had the early advantage, before the Eagle came back with a win in the triples.

The match and singles points were dependant on the final two games and with the Eagle's Andy Smith winning the sixth it came down to the final game, which was taken by Swiss Bell's Russ Farmer to secure match and singles points for the visitors.

A ladies' win for Bocking was followed by a 2-1 pairs win for Eagle A and a draw in the triples, before Taylor Barnard extended Bocking's lead in the first singles but the next three games went the Eagle's way .

Jimmy Kiddle's 2-1 win in the fifth gave Bocking a route back but with the Eagle winning the final two games, they had the singles and match won.

Cressing B were at home against Braintree Football Club and, with a win in the ladies and a 2-1 win in the pairs, the visitors had the early match advantage and although the hosts responded with a win in the triples, wins for Mark Tillyey and Rick Marshall kept the Football Club's lead intact.

The next two games saw honours shared but with Cressing winning the fifth and sixth games the singles and match outcome hinged on the final game of the night, with Lynn Kelly winning 2-0 to secure singles and match points for the Football Club.
