THE Braintree Open Darts League's summer season got under way with the teams from divisions one and

two forming a single division and playing each other once rather than home and away.

Cressing A hosted Bocking Club and with a win in the ladies followed by a 3-0 win in the pairs, a win in the triples and a opening win for Bryan Willis in the singles had the match points secured.

Bocking came back with wins for Phil Watkins, Alan Dewar and Colin Barnard but the next three games went Cressing's way and they had the singles victory as well.

The Angel travelled to Notley Sports, who were unable to field any ladies players, but did win 3-0 in the pairs and took the triples.

Sports continued their winning ways into the singles with wins for Dave Islip, Ted Ullmer, Stewart Thorogood and Mick Hyham to secure the match and singles points.

Wethersfield Club's Kim Patmore and Emma Totman got their team off to a good start with a win in the ladies' competition against the Welsh Princess.

A 3-0 pairs win put Wethersfield further ahead and although the Welsh forced the draw in the triples, the Club players claimed all the singles matches.

The Eagle's A and B teams played each other and it was the A who got off to the better start with a win in the ladies, but the B came back with a 2-1 win in the pairs before a draw in the triples.

Honours were shared in the first four singles as the A team stayed just ahead in the match but with the B winning the final three games, they had the points and overall match won.

A draw in the ladies between Braintree Football Club and Wethersfield Raiders was followed by a 3-0 pairs win and a triples success for the Football Club.

Wins for Tony Boreham, Brendan Hand and James Cropton in the opening three singles put the Raiders ahead, but Rick Marshall, Hayden Acott, Matt Baker and Lynn Kelly won to earn the Football Club singles and match honours.

Rhys Hayden, Bryan Willis, Tom Goodchild, and Keven Taylor all hit 180s and Steve Sheldrake hit an out shot of 103.
