BRAINTREE Chess Club's A and C teams both had home matches but had mixed fortunes in the North Essex Chess League.
The C team were playing the more experienced Billericay B in division three and lost 3-1, but the A team, playing the highly-rated Writtle A in division one, won their match.
Eddie Banks lost for the A team but there were wins for William Young against John Moore, Wayland Medlycott against Kerry Chilvers and Darren Lewis against Jim Howson.
The score was again 3-1, but this time in Braintree’s favour.
