NORMAL service was resumed at Braintree Golf Club after the thaw and David Chamberlain made the most of it to run up the points and win the Sunday Stableford.

Playing off a handicap of 20, David signed for 44 but only beat scratch man John Bradford by a point after the latter posted a gross 63.

Third place went to Gary Spurrier (6) with 41.

Scoring in the Saturday Stableford was almost as impressive with Joseph Mason, off 11, and Phil Edwards, off ten, posting 39 points apiece and after a countback Mason took top spot.

Just a point behind was Andrew Fowler, playing off nine.

There was a clear winner in the ladies’ midweek Stableford with Carolyn Harris (22) securing victory with 36 points.

A countback was needed to decide second spot after three players signed for 33 points with Ann Snow (17) getting the verdict over Julie Race (9) and Debbie Blundell (24).

Diane Wyatt (21) with 32 points finished fifth.
