WITHAM Town manager Adam Flint is looking forward to a quickfire return meeting with Heybridge Swifts tonight - as long as the winter weather doesn't intervene.

Having seen his team finish on a high in a dramatic ending when the two local rivals clashed at the Village Glass Stadium on Friday night, Flint is keen for the next encounter at Swifts' Scraley Road home to take place tonight.

The chilly conditions may deny them the chance, but Flint hopes that's not the case as he felt Heybridge were fading in the second half of the first match.

Having been 1-0 down just after half-time, Witham stormed back in the second half and they had Swifts on the back foot before Correy Davidson struck a leveller in the 90th minute to leave the hosts jubilant.

And Flint wants to build on that buoyant feeling - sooner rather than later.

He said: “We wanted them to work hard after the disappointing game at Grays in our previous outing and they certainly did that

“There was a bit of sloppiness with the passing and some were hitting it a bit aimlessly, but we got into them at half-time and it was much better.

“We got Correy and Tyler wider and we caused them problems.

“Their goal came from our mistake, but I was really pleased that we responded after the Grays game.

“I'm not sure about the weather because the forecast isn't great, but I now really fancy us at their place on Tuesday because I felt they looked really tired in that second half.

“We were low on confidence before the game and I think that result will help us.

“How many times have teams done that to us?

“We know what it feels like to concede late – it really hurts you.

“I’m sure they were hurting afterwards.

“Had we scored five minutes before, I think we would have gone on and nicked it.

“I think it gives us confidence now.

“I know it was a draw but I think it can be like the Hornchurch win that we had.

“I hope it will."
