A WIN in the final game of the night for Dave Saunders saw the Retreat finish on a high in their Braintree Open Darts League division one game against Swiss Bell.

It hadn’t started well for Retreat as they concede the ladies’ game and lost the pairs 3-0.

However, they did managed to force the draw in the triples and shared the first six singles games as Swiss Bell took overall match honours, before Saunders’ win gave them the singles points.

Cressing A hosted Wethersfield Club and, after losing the ladies’ match to the visitors, Emma Totman and Kim Patmore bounced back to win the pairs 2-1 and the home side also took the triples.

Cressing carried that into the singles chalking up victories in all seven games for overall match victory.

Notley Sports started strongly against Eagle B with a win for Jacqui Thurgood and Merle Morris in the ladies, followed by a 2-1 win in the pairs and a draw in the triples.

Alex Chandler did claim a singles win for the Eagle, but successes for Dave Islip, Ted Ullmer, Nev Walker and Stewart Thorogood continued Notley’s dominance.

In division two, Eagle A and Cressing B drew the ladies and triples but a 3-0 win in the pairs gave Cressing the advantage going into the singles.

The first two singles went the Eagle’s way before a 2-1 win for Harry Smith made the overall match even, however Paul Little, Dave Wren, Steve Arnold and Stuart Wicks all won to give singles and match points to Eagle A.

Kelly Willis and Jackeline Ryder took ladies’ honours for Horse and Groom at Wethersfield Raiders, who then took the pairs 2-1 before the visitors responded by winning the triples.

They couldn't build on that advantage, though, as all seven singles went to the Raiders and they claimed the overall match.

After a draw in the ladies’ match at the Angel against visiting Welsh Princess the hosts forged ahead with a 2-1 pairs win and a win in the triples.

The Welsh hit back by taking four of the opening five singles to secure those points but were unable to field any further players so the Angel claimed the overall match.

Steve Sheldrake, Rob Tinsley, Mick Cain, Kelvin Byrne and Harry Smith all hit 180s and in the high out shot competitions, Tracey Hemming hit a 68, Chris Holden a 130 and Kevin Taylor a 105.
