THE Braintree Club Sweep on Hobbs Croft at the Fennes produced plenty of silver fish, but they were mainly small on the pole and the one angler to use a different approach was the winner Matt Gould.

He started on the method feeder and got off to a good start with six decent bream.

Smaller samples followed and adding net roach on the pole, Gould finished fairly well clear with 18-8-0.

The only carp landed went to Mark Banks, which boosted his weight to 13-0-0 for second and a section win.

The other section was won by Billy Walker with 11-4-0 of small silvers.

John Daniels looked to be in a different match compared to the others at Notley on Friday where fish were hard to come by, as he netted one carp and five F1s to record another win, weighing 15-4-0 in total.

By agreement with the competitors, second place in the pools payout goes the highest weight of silver fish during the colder months.

On this occasion it was match secretary Jim Loosley who had the top weight of 2-7-0.

The club are at the Fennes on Sunday, fishing on Ash Grounds for the Crittall and Winterton Cup.
