THE Braintree Club members found the going tough on the Fennes Hill and Black Lake for their fifth round of the Regan Cup.

The weather was much better than expected and although the roach were feeding, it was only the small fish as bonus fish were hard to come by.

Gary Tisshaw landed four F1s along with three bream and roach on the feeder and pole to win in a closely-contested match, finishing with a total weight of 14-8-0.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 G Spong 13-2-0, 2 C Sale 14-0-0.

The club's Friday Sweep at Notley also proved to be a hard match, with few silvers showing.

In the event, two late carp settled the result in favour of Kevin Howell with a 10-7-0 total.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 J Daniels 5-6-0, 2 B Reed 7-11-0.

Members should note that the lake will be closed due to a shoot on Saturday and thereafter every two weeks until Christmas.

On Sunday, the final round of the Essex Interclub League takes place on the Maldon Canal, while Braintree Club members have a Sweep at Notley.
