He finished a point ahead of Alan Simmons (9) while Joe Yacoob (15) took third place with 37 points on countback from Mick Sutton (10).

The Saturday Stableford also required a countback to decide the winner with Essex county player Callum Pipe, off plus-one, edging out Iain Lucey (19) after both returned 37 points.

Colin Pace (22) finished third with 34 points.

Valerie Bethell, playing off 17, won the ladies' Golf Foundation Brooch with a nett 71.

She finished three shots ahead of Caroline Fields (19) and Melinda Atkinson (12) and after a countback, Fields took second place.
