BOTH Braintree and Bocking Angling Society matches were at Notley over the weekend and the fishing was a bit patchy on both days, but as in recent matches, it was still carp that was dominating the weights.

In the Friday match, Jim Loosley had two carp in the first hour to build up a lead.

After a slow start Bernard Huxter caught three carp and two F1s and looked like the likely winner, until Loosley had one bigger one towards the end and the scales gave him the verdict with 18-4-0 to 17-0-0.

Sunday's match saw a few carp caught early on and then it went very quiet until later in the match when some more carp and F1s were landed.

Loosley landed three carp and F1s to give him a double win, weighing in a total of 14-9-0.

Bob Reed fell one fish short, taking 11-12-0 for second place.

Sunday's Sid Roberts Memorial/Cancer Research match on the Fennes is a 40-peg sell-out.
