WITHAM Town manager Adam Flint is impressed with the "firepower" that he has assembled as he continues planning for the start of the Bostik League division north season.

A home game against Potters Bar will kick-start Witham's season on August 12 and Flint has been busy building his squad in pre-season.

They travel to the south coast to face Shoreham on Saturday, before a home fixture against Braintree Town Academy on Wednesday and head into those games on the back of a 3-0 win at Thurlow Nunn League side Halstead Town last weekend and a trip to Southend Manor last night.

Two of the goals at Halstead came from Ryan Imbert, but the other was from Sam Ashford, who has joined Witham this summer from Stansted and the Town boss has liked what he has seen from his new addition.

Flint said: "I have 15 players signed on now and I'm really pleased with what we have.

"The firepower that we have is really impressive, with the likes of Tim (Monsheju), Nathan (Koranteng) and now Sam Ashford coming on board as well.

"He is a former Spurs youngster and was at Heybridge as well, but he has come over from Stansted and has looked really sharp.

"He can play on the left side of a front three, but we played him as a left wing-back at Halstead and he did really well there.

"Every game he has played in, he has looked very impressive.

"With Sam on board, we have 15 signed on, but I'm looking to have a squad of about 20 so there are a few more to come in.

"We have had a few trialists who I'm hoping to sign so people can expect a few more to be announced."

Flint said he was looking forward to seeing the attacking threat that his team would possess this year, but he wanted players to learn from mistakes last year that proved hurtful to them in games.

He added: "We have so much going forward, but there were times last year when we were too gung-ho and we're trying to work with them to be more disciplined without the ball.

"The players are working hard on that and they are taking on board what we're trying to instil in them."
