THE Braintree and Bocking Angling Society team found Prestons Lake at Pebmarsh to their liking when they fished the second round of the Essex Interclub League hosted by the Colchester APS.

The team scored 51 points to win the match, from Maldon on 40 and Harwich on 37½.

Braintree captain Danny Mason led the way in style by winning the match individually with 110-3-0 of bream and tench. Reece Hearn provided good back-up, taking 43-12-0 of skimmers for second and Alan Leutchford made it a clean sweep with 32-10-0 in third.

Good weights are being recorded on the Braintree Club matches at Notley, where a mixture of carp and F1s are needed to win.

Friday's match saw Kevin Howell land four carp and eight F1s for a comfortable win with 33-4-0 from Bernard Huxter, who weighed 18-3-0 in second.

Sunday's match produced a tighter finish, with the honours going to Mark Orrin who had six carp and F1s for a match-winning 39-2-0.

Bob Cheeseman had more silvers in his net but finished just short, to win the first section with 37-5-0.

Jim Loosley took section two with 23-13-0.
