GEOFF Wyatt was the toast of the Colne Valley Golf Club’s senior section as he was crowned the 2017 Seniors Champion.

His stunning gross 78 was enough to see off Steve Lusher in second place and Kerry Flitter in third.

The Nett prize was won by John Appleton with a nett 68, with Wyatt second on nett 68 and Flitter third.

There was more silverware on display and another Geoff making the headlines in the D’Angibau Doubles competition.

This time it was Geoff Earnshaw, along with his partner Sue Earnshaw, taking the trophy.

Their score of 43 points saw them two clear of runners-up Charlie and Dianne Jeggo, with Sue Drysdale and Steve Taylor third with 40 points.

Meanwhile, Colne Valley's men’s Leslie Wood team won through to the fourth round of the competition following an 8-7 victory of rivals Benton Hall.

Valley led 3½-1½ after the morning foursomes, with the highlight win coming from Dan Wallace and Jerry Callow, who took their match 6&5.

Despite Benton winning the first three singles, Valley then claimed 3½ points from the next four matches and it was left to Callow to secure the wining point.
