OVERALL Braintree Open Darts League leaders Cressing A found themselves pegged back as they entertained Notley Sports.

Sports opened their account with a 2-1 win in the pairs, but with Cressing winning the triples the hosts had the match lead going into the singles.

Dave Islip's 2-1 win over Bryan Willis and Graham Chinnery's 2-0 win over Tony Bamsey edged Notley ahead in the opening games but a win for Cressing's Shane Smith levelled the match.

With honours shared in the remaining games, though, Notley had the singles won with the overall match ending in a draw.

Wethersfield Raiders travelled to Bocking and, with a 2-1 win in the pairs, a win in the triples and an opening singles win for Phil Hulme, the visitors looked to be in command of the match.

Wins for Dave Joyce and Keith Sturman in the next two followed by a win for Graham Hardy in the fifth had Bocking back in the hunt, but Bruce Mawdsley and Andi Thomas took the final two games as Raiders had the singles and match won.

The Horse and Groom found themselves chasing the match after losing the pairs 2-1 and drawing the triples in their match against Cressing B.

Opening singles wins for Jake Newlove and Mark Worster had the Groom just ahead but with Cressing winning the next two games they were back in front.

However that lead didn't last with the Groom winning the remaining three games they had the singles and match points secured.

Legends' home match against the Swiss Bell saw the visitors win the pairs 2-1 before the teams played out a draw in the triples.

The singles was almost one-way traffic, though, with the Swiss winning six of the seven games to secure the match and singles.

Braintree Football Club made the short trip to Eagle A and they had the early match advantage with a 2-1 win in the pairs followed by a win in the triples and a 2-0 win for Matt Baker over Kevin Byrne in the opening singles.

The Eagle came back with wins in the next two singles but Alan Dewar, Graham Mills and Lynn Kelly claimed the next three to give the Football Club singles and match victories.

Shane Smith, Rob Watson and Ted Ullmer all hit 180s and high out shots were recorded by Barr Old (110), Arron Holden (110) and Brendan Hand (106).
