IT proved to be "an exceptionally good" trip for Cressing kart driver Tyrone Stansfield as he headed to Glan-Y-Gors in North Wales for round three of the BirelART UK Series.

The Alec Hunter Academy pupil's good form started straight away as he looked to bounce back from not finishing in the final in the previous round at Shenington and he claimed pole position in qualifying.

It was Stanfield's 11th front row start on the trot since moving up to the juniors from the cadets and he carried that form into the heat race as a finished first, 1.2 seconds in front of second place.

It was a similar story in the pre-final when he cruised in almost three seconds ahead of second and despite falling down to third early on in the final, a powerful finish saw him claim another victory to complete the perfect weekend and take over at the top of the junior championship standings.

Stansfield said: "It was an exceptionally good round for me and it made up for the DNF (Did Not Finish) at Shenington in the final.

"They were valuable championship points, which now means I am leading the championship after round three."

He thanked his sponsors K & B Tatam of Maldon, G & B Finch of Great Leighs, Kingwell Environmental of Long Green and BODYFIT4TRAINING of Witham for their support.
