THE Braintree Club had a good turn out on the Hill and Black lake at the Fennes on Sunday.

Conditions looked perfect for a good match, with a slight ripple on the water, but the bream did not feed as expected and weights were generally on the side.

Mark Banks recorded his second win in the matches on the venue and each time it was with the help of a double-figure carp taken in the margins to add to his bream and F1s.

This time he finished with a 29-10-0 total from peg 15.

In second place was Jamie Derry, with an all bream net weighing 27-7-0.

Sections (excluding top two): 1 D Mason 20-4-0, 2 S White 7-6-0, 3 B Walker 23-7-0, 4 A Gould 16-8-0.

Carp are starting to feed on most venues as the weather improves and at Notley last Friday the top weights were mainly carp.

Chris Orrin led the way with seven carp, plus F1s and silvers for a 35-15-0 total from the deep end, which has not fished in recent matches.

Sections (excluding winner): 1 J Daniels 19-12-0, 2 P Thompson 13-12-0.

On Sunday, the Kelvedon Club have their Merv Joslin Open on Layer Marney 2 and 3.
